The Northeastern NM Educational Foundation dba the Center for Community Innovation (CCI) works with the City of Raton to provide workforce development programs like classes and workshops to help upskill and improve our workforce in the area and free online courses through SkillSharp As a subcontractor, we have a license to provide upskilling courses and development to the community of Raton.

We view our services as a tool for community partners and businesses to utilize. We are working with entities such as GrowRaton!, Raton MainStreet, HELP New Mexico, New Mexico Workforce Solutions, Pinwheel, Krossroads, the Raton School Systems and New Mexico Public Education Department, and North Central NM Economic Development Department, so that they can promote this tool to their clients and help them achieve successful outcomes.

Additionally, CCI is an official proctor of the HiSET (High School Equivalency Testing). We work with Luna Community College to provide free test prep.

Responsibilities

  • Have intake and onboarding meetings for employees, employers, or individuals looking into SkillSharp Courses. Must have set office hours for clients to come in for questions, meetings or help.

  • Create pathways or skill tracks of courses and certificates in a specific training or industry for clients

  • Keep track of clients progress and check in on their needs. Determine their level of education or if there is needed intervention outside of SkillSharp.

  • Host free workshops or classes such as Free Resume and Skill Building Workshops. These workshops are created to help future and current employees to grow in soft and hard skills, professionalism, and knowledge of basic workplace experience.

  • Host professional development dinners/lunches/events and invite the community out to learn about a specific topic affecting the workforce community at large. Some of our main focuses for workshops and presentations are Social Media Etiquette, Building Rapport w/ your boss and community, Networking, Fundraising, Event Planning, Leadership Skills, Communication Skills, and Customer Service.

  • Provide support for business owners to enroll employees in the platform(s) and can provide regular reporting to business owners on employee engagement and completion of course content.

  • Open and host open hours in the computer lab for clients needing computer or internet access for classes, testing, or other resources related to workforce development and education.

  • Host events/workshops/presentations as often as possible to draw in the business community to provide tools, resources and information on workforce development needs.

  • Work alongside the City’s economic development partners to brainstorm and find solutions for local workforce development needs and economic development opportunities.

  • Do intakes for HiSET clients and students to enter into the Luna Community College free test prep classes or to take the HiSET.

Schedule HiSET tests with students

  • Work at large with the business community in the community and surrounding area to get clients enrolled into SkillSharp. Attend meetings as needed.

  • Create monthly and biyearly analytical and qualitative reports for city commission. Update commission biyearly in person.

  • Create and help advertise the programs through flyers, brochures, events, and visits to businesses.

  • Assist Executive Director w/ any projects, and attend meetings as needed.

Qualifications

  • Creative and critical thinking, communicates well, follows instructions, is flexible and independent in time management, works well in teams and individually.

  • Must possess the ability to hit deadlines in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently

  • Demonstrated experience in interpersonal communication and career counseling.

  • Candidates must be highly motivated, independent, and caring and empathetic.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or higher, and at least one to three (1-3) years of demonstrated experience or education in labor solutions, workforce development, career counseling, or economic development.

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills using office software such as Microsoft Office and Google Drive

  • Current Driver’s License

  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

  • Getting Information — Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.

  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems — Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
